Five Reasons I Love {His Shirts}

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, let me loose in Zara and I’ll probably leave with an armful of oversized sweaters, studded hats and blazers from the men’s section instead of fitted dresses and little pencil skirts from the women’s.

 

And while most girls in love love nothing more than snuggling in their boyfriends’ larger than life hoodies and t-shirts, I took things a step too far by raiding my boy’s closet and throwing this shirt into regular rotation in my own. Here’s why I can’t get enough:

 

1. THEY’RE JUST SO COMFORTABLE

Need I say more? These babies are perfect for the summer as they leave you with plenty of room to breathe, lounge and just be yourself in, without the fuss of having to look primped and perfect.

 

2. THEY’RE AN EASY ANDROGYNY HACK

If you’ve been wanting to try an androgynous look but haven’t been sure how, this is it. Just raid your boyfriend / brother / dad’s closet, pick a shirt you like and pair it with your favourite jeans. Feeling adventurous? Add a bow tie, some brogues or suspenders to up the ante. Oh, and while you’re ‘shopping his closet’, be sure to ‘borrow’ a blazer and some jeans, too! You’ll thank me later.

 

3. THEY GO WITH ANYTHING

In the past couple of weeks, I’ve worn this checkered bad boy out to an event under overalls, belted it with a pair of leggings for coffee with the girls and thrown it on over other printed pieces to pack an extra punch at a meeting. They even look adorable when paired with skater skirts and high waist shorts. There simply are no rules!

 

4. THEY’RE BANG ON TREND

We all know ow huge the tartan trend has been off late, but I’ve had the worst time finding a blouse in the print at the usual stores. I almost gave up until I set my sights on this one which ticked the androgyny and tartan boxes at the same time!

 

5. THEY REMIND ME OF HIM

Whenever we’re apart, which is a lot, sadly, since we live on opposite ends of the globe, nothing makes me feel closer to him and reminisce about all our favourite moments than slipping on this shirt. It instantly brightens my day, just like a text from him does.
