Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am as blind as a bat. Think not being able to read the menu behind the counter at coffee shops. I’ve worn glasses ever since I was four years old, and while I have experimented with a variety of frames over the years (neon pink at age 7, gold Snoopy frames at age 12, black nerd glasses at 17 and tortoiseshell cat-eye frames at 21), finding one that was ‘me’ proved to be a lot more difficult than I thought.
Which is why I was thrilled when Vogue Eyewear asked me, along with six other bloggers, to be a part of their S/S’ 15 collection preview. Almost fairytale-like, we were whisked away for a day at the J.W Marriott in Bombay, a location very special to me since that’s where I met my fiance, James a year ago. On arrival, we were absolutely ecstatic to learn that we were to be styled by Allia Al Rufai, primped by Elton Fernandez and shot by Atul Kasbekar. Talk about a dream team!
I chatted animatedly with the other blogger girls over cups of coffee while we had our hair and makeup done by Elton, and danced around to peppy numbers from his iPod. Elton have me the Victoria’s Secret-style waves in my hair I had always dreamed of, added a stylized sweep of teal liner that popped prettily from behind the frames and then topped off the look with a peachy-coral lip colour I loved. Allia’s amazing team styled me in a neutral perforated midi skirt, a floral print blouse and wedges that fueled my obsession with vintage style and channeled my laid back Bandra-on-the-weekend vibe perfectly.
They then added the icing on the cake – a pair of gorgeous teal glasses by Vogue Eyewear that were funky enough to finally feel like ‘me’! I then headed downstairs to strike a pose for Atul while Elton’s wonderful on-set presence had me laughing and relaxed for the camera the whole time. The whole team (Aditi, Prachi, Farah, Deepti, Allia, Nidhi, Elton and Atul) was just brilliant and and worked tirelessly and like clockwork to bring this project to life. I feel so privileged to be a part of it.
