#OOTD Birthday Girl

0

Only a few days to go till my 26th birthday, and the changes between last year and this one have been phenomenal. I moved base to a whole new country, got married, became a baby mama to a puppy, made a whole new set of friends and learned skills I had never dreamed of mastering only a few months ago.

Other changes, however, haven’t been all that exciting. My under eye circles are noticibly more pronounced, I watch TV with my glasses on and the girl who spent the days after her birthday counting down to the next one, creating elaborate, over-the-top wish lists and planning the perfect celebration with her friends has been replaced by one who barely knew her birthday was around the corner, would rather spend it on the couch with a glass of wine and was planning on using her birthday money to pay for vet bills and dining chairs.

.

There is one thing about my birthday I’m really excited about this year, though. You see, the pros and cons of having a June birthday in India are that yours is the first birthday of the year they celebrate in school, which is always special, BUT since it falls smack in the middle of a monsoon month, it is always grey, dreary and sometimes flooded so a pool party (which I desperately wanted as a child) was always out of the question.

.

And while I don’t really plan on stripping down to my hot pink swimsuit and inviting the world round to see anymore, grown-up me is looking forward to spending the day in the London sun with James visiting the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Victoria and Albert museum, eating macarons at Laduree and walking around Portobello market taking pictures.

.

To blow another candle out on my cake, I will be wearing a floral outfit that perfectly pays homage to the British sunshine, all the while keeping my Mumbai monsoon jelly sandals on. Y’know, just in case ;)
