My Week On Instagram {Week 2}

0

The past week’s been a fun one to say the least, but I may have gone a little overboard with the shopping! It all started on the weekend when we visited, and fell head over pinwheels in love with, The Lil Flea. Here’s how the week unraveled:

1. Every corner at The Lil Flea was selfie-friendly. But our personal favourite were the old windows painted in bright colours.

2. Ever the shutter bugs, we then made our way over to the Rickshaw photo booth where I picked out a sign that really hit home with me, ‘Mumbai is a city, Bombay is an emotion’. Amen to that!

3. Tired after all that walking and picture taking, we made our way to Palladium’s Smoke House Deli for a snack. Couldn’t resist snapping up a picture of my friend’s vintage sunglasses, handed down to her by her grandpa.

4. I was so excited about my Smoked Chicken and Caperberry salad (still going strong on the healthy eating!), till I found out caperberries taste exactly like olives. I detest olives with a passion. Still, I trudged on and washed it all down with a delicious mango, kiwi and apple smoothie! Slurp!

5. Sunday’s dinner is my most recent discovery on my healthy eating journey. A little restaurant near where I live, ‘Wok In The Box‘ serves really healthy, oil-free chicken salad stir-fry’s. Too good to be true!

6. I was so distracted at taking pictures at The Little Flea on Saturday, that I didn’t realize until I got home that I’d walked right by a stall selling the coolest brogues without buying a thing! So on Sunday, we returned to the market on a mission!

7. Wore my brand new brogues to class in style on Monday morning. I’m obsessed with how 90′s they look and feel!

8. Have I mentioned that I teach a class in fashion writing? I absolutely love it, especially since my students are so bright, talented and enthusiastic. This is some of their work from a concept book they’re putting together.

9. My love earned some major brownie points by spelling this out using candy he found at work! Not only is he yummy himself, but he found a way to sweeten my day!

10. Inspired by this post, my head chain from Styldrv x Style Fiesta arrived on Wednesday morning. I promptly put it right on and went out for lunch with fellow blogger, Gia from Giasaysthat.

11. Also on a mission to eat clean, Gia has started her ‘Cut The Crap’ challenge on Instagram, where she doesn’t eat processed foods, sugar or anything fried. I was happy to lend support by ordering a Salt Water Cafe‘s Smoked Chicken, Apple and Walnut salad.

12. The Pineapple, Ginger and Carrot juice that I ordered to go with it looked and sounded a lot better than it actually tasted, though. Oh well. You win some, you lose some.

13. Gia and I stopped to buy some necklaces after lunch. How gorgeous was the woman selling them? Love her bright, colour blocked sari! Usually a vendor who sells at traffic lights, we lucked out by finding her standing at a street corner for a breather.

14. More shopping. Gia and I bought almost identical rainbow necklaces. Great minds really do think alike!

15. We then stopped over at a few Bandra boutiques and I ended up indulging myself with these pretty polka dotted sandals. Saving them to wear on my birthday in June! (The fact that my birthday is coming up is my justification for everything I buy!)

16. Started Friday on a happy note – a healthy breakfast of strawberries, watermelon and oatmeal in bed. It was extra special because it came in my Grandmother’s favourite silver tray that she was served breakfast in everyday.

17. The evolution of street shopping in India summed up in one picture. Above is the necklace I bought earlier this week and below is one I bought off the street back when I was in college. I think I might layer the two to create a really crazy statement piece.

18. I loved the aztec brogues from The Lil Flea so much, I asked the designer, Sheena, to make me a pair of mirror work ones. They’re so gorgeous, I can’t wait to wear them on a night out!
